Meet Steve
While serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, Steve gave his life to Jesus Christ. During his time in service, Steve became captivated by Matthew 9:36-39: When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, βThe harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.β
Steve felt strongly that God was calling him into vocational ministry and after he finished his time in the army, Steve got a BA in theology.
He came to understand over time that he was not a traditional pastor or teacher. His heart was always toward discipleship. He wanted to equip believers to become effective and mature, and he wanted to bring unbelievers toward a saving knowledge of Christ.
Steve has partnered with Search Ministries. Search is nation-wide ministry dedicated to a relational approach to evangelism and discipleship. Their training, resources, and outreaches have given Steve invaluable tools and insights that have contributed to the writing of Seeds of Faith and Nutshells.
Steve has partnered with other ministries such as Open Doors With Brother Andrew, Mercy Ships, and several local ministries. He also works with an organization that helps combat veterans recover from PTSD.
Steve and his wife Melinda have been married for 31 years and live in Minneapolis. They have two adult sons, Andrew and Roman Steven. Roman Steven was adopted from foster care at the age of nine.
When Steve is not mentoring young men or facilitating small groups, he enjoys woodworking and writing, both fiction and non-fiction.
